Make Summer Reading More Fun #DisneyStoryCentral

An important way to preserve the skills that kids have acquired during the school year is to make literacy a part of their daily routine during the summer too. The best way to do this is to give them access to high-interest reading materials and to make reading and storytelling a priority for your family. Encouraging a lifelong love of reading starts with matching readers with appropriate books that they actually want to read. Disney Story Central makes it easy to find engaging books that kids will love.

When we first started exploring Disney Story Central my daughter was thrilled to find stories about the Disney Palace Pets. Because she's not reading yet, I was happy to find that there's an option called "Read to Me". Each word is highlighted as a narrator reads and when she's finished a book, she earns stars, ranks, and trophies. The "Browse By Character" carousel made it easy to find more books she wanted to read.

My son who is a beginning reader also loved Disney Story Central. He can have his very own bookshelf within the app complete with personalized book recommendations. After choosing a book featuring the Disney Buddies, he chose the "read by myself" option. The app kept track of his stars and rank as well.

Since Disney Story Central is available on iPhone, iPad, a tablet-optimized website and Video on Demand (AT&T U-Verse) kids have access to their favorite books at home or on the go.

There are lots of way to keep your kids reading this summer, but few are as exciting as giving them access to an expansive collection of Disney digital stories through Disney Story Central. With favorite characters from Frozen, Cars, and the Disney princesses there's sure to be something every kid will love. And Disney makes it easy to customize the app to your family's needs with two options: a subscription service that gives unlimited access to the library of books for $7.99 a month or an option to purchase books ala cart through the book token system. Tokens work like currency, in which one token is worth one book download. Download and access Disney Story Central for free through their website or iTunes.
