Motorola's Moto X - The Perfect Gift for Busy Parents

Moto X, Motorola's fully customizable smartphone makes the perfect gift for anyone on your list, or better yet, you!

I'm a mom with a crappy phone. This didn't bother me until I realized how many great pictures of my kids I'm missing out on. The phone I have now takes terrible pictures. So I either have to remember to lug my camera along or just skip it. But all that's about to change. As a Christmas gift to myself, I'm buying the Moto X phone and sharing with you why it's the perfect phone for busy parents. Plus there's tons of ways to personalize it!

1. The camera

The last straw for me was a recent trip to visit my sister. We took the kids to try out the new sledding hill and she got some great shots with her phone and I got nothing.

I asked my sister about her phone and she told me it's the Motorola X. She's been very happy with it. When I went online I discovered that Motorola has recently come out with the second generation Moto X that's completely customizable. It features an even better camera with a Best Shot feature that takes several photos before and after you snap the picture and identifies your optimal shot. It even knows if you've taken several pictures at a party or on vacation and will organize them into a highlight reel with options for music and special effects. With this phone, I know I'll never miss capturing another moment, even in the most dimly lit conditions.

2. The Features

The new Moto X has a 5.2-inch HD display and a curved frame that fits comfortably into your hand. It also lets you do more using just your voice (and when do you ever have a free hand?) It works with apps like Facebook, Twitter, Google Play Music, and Pandora. It's even aware of where you are - in the car, in a meeting, or in bed and adjusts to your preferences accordingly. You can name it whatever you want and ask it questions. This is probably as close as I'll ever get to having an assistant.

3. The Customization

If you go to MotoMaker.com you'll find an online studio with thousands of ways to design the phone to reflect your personal style. Make your phone unique by customizing colors and deciding on all the details like the front, back, accents, memory storage, and wallpapers. For an additional $25, you can even choose to make the back leather or wood. The leather comes in cognac, navy, black, or natural and is sourced from Horween.

You can add a name or short message that is laser engraved on the back of the phone.

4. The Price

While I want a premium smartphone, I'm not prepared to pay a premium price. The Moto X is available to $99 with a two-year contract and $499 without a contract.
