Supplies:
- Air-dry clay
- Cookie cutters
- Items for making impressions like doilies, pinecones, yarn, etc.
- Colored yarn or hemp cord for hanging
- Small set of alphabet stamps and ink pad (optional)
- Acrylic paint and glaze (optional)
- Paper mache box (optional)
This project is so simple, but there are so many possibilities. Just roll out the clay and make an impression with whatever you have on hand.
Cut the clay with a cookie cutter and make a hole for the string with a drinking straw.
After the ornaments are dry, thread the yarn through and they are ready to hang.
You can use stamps and an ink pad to add words.
Here's one my four year old painted. I added a layer of glaze to the top.
They fit perfectly into a star-shaped paper mache box.
(I'm a little obsessed with Consumer Craft's paper mache boxes. I used them for this year's advent calendar too.)
