Kid Made Alphabet Books

Back in the olden days, before I even started kindergarten, my mom bought my sister and me each a blank scrapbook to make our own alphabet books. Mine was red and I L-O-V-E-D it. My sister and I went through old magazines and cut out letters and glued them in alphabetical order to each page of the scrapbook. We also cut out pictures we liked from the magazines and glued them to the page that corresponded with the initial sound.


I was very particular about what pictures went into my scrapbook. I wish I still had it because I'm sure it would hilarious now to see what I considered cool enough to be included.

I picked up some blank books at Target's dollar spot. My four year old was reluctant to even try this because he's making his own alphabet book at school, but it must be different because he worked on this for an hour and a half (unheard of around here) and then declared it "the most awesomest book ever."

I just wrote the letters out for them, but since there was so much enthusiasm we may go back and either trace the letters or glue magazine letters over them.

The books were a little small so we designed some fold out pages by cutting some computer paper and taping it to the existing page.
