Valentine's Day Math for Toddlers and Preschoolers

One of the activities I put in my kids' Valentine mailboxes involved M&M's, which they both love.  This was a super simple activity and worked on number recognition and counting.

I drew 8 hearts on a piece of paper and numbered them one to eight.  I included a small bag of M&M's. The kids had to put the correct number of M&M's into each heart before they could eat them.

We've also practiced number recognition with Hershey's Kisses (we like chocolate around here) by going on a Kiss Hunt.

And for some great Valentine counting books, please check out our Valentine story props.
