Egg Carton Pigs Aplenty, Pigs Galore!: Virtual Book Club for Kids

Welcome to January's Virtual Book Club for Kids! This month's author was David McPhail, who was a new author for us.  I'm looking forward to seeing all the David McPhail books and activities you link up.

We chose Pigs Aplenty, Pigs Galore! and my three year old had me read it three times in a row.  It's a silly rhyming story about a man who finds his house full of mischievous pigs.  They pour oatmeal in the kitchen sink and have pizzas delivered.  The man is so mad about the mess they're making that he tries to kick them out.  But the pigs ask to stay so politely that he can't help but give in.

We made some egg carton pigs to go along with the book by cutting apart an egg carton, trimming it, and bending it to form ears.
We painted them different colors.
At this point, my four year old decided they looked nothing like pigs and no amount of convincing was going to change his mind.  My three year old was more interested and wanted a girl pig with hair and a bow.
Check out the color matching game made from egg carton pigs at Having Fun at Chelle's House.

Did you do a David McPhail activity this month? Please link it up or share it on the Virtual Book Club for Kids facebook page!

I'll have to see if the library has this one; I think my sidekick would enjoy it.
