Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Trees

This was a really easy way to make a cute Christmas craft.   All you need is a toilet paper roll, paint, and scissors.

1. Paint/decorate your cardboard tube and let it dry before you cut it.  If you try to paint it after you've cut it, the cardboard will lose its shape.

2.  Cut a wide spiral up your toilet paper roll.

It doesn't have to be perfect.

3.  Now cut the spiral in half again so you have two pieces.

4.  Bend each piece into a spiral shape.  It's best to have the flat end at the bottom of each piece.

Wasn't that easy?   We also added some stars on the top of our trees.

Christmas Tree Farm by Ann Purmell This book describes what happens at a Christmas tree farm.  Not just during the holidays, but all year long.  The narrator is the owner's grandson and he helps plant seedlings, trim trees, and haul the freshly cut trees.  I didn't know if my preschoolers would be interested in it because they've never actually been to a tree farm (we're a fake tree family), but they really enjoyed the story.
